Whether
it is Winter or Summer, the eighteen regional
districts of Columbia County offer a wide range
of things to see and do.
The
Hudson River, on our western border, offers
boating, cruises, fishing and the most
spectacular views of the river and the Hudson
Valley from the historic mansion of Olana, home
of Frederic Church. The central region's farms
and soft rolling countryside vistas on a crisp
fall day make driving a pleasure and from
Austerlitz in August on the back roads to
Tanglewood is time well spent. Just north of
Livingston in December where Clermont presents
an antique Christmas Eve, the Rip van Winkle
bridge will take you to Hunter and Windham for
great skiing. Or finally the south eastern edge
of the County where the Taconic State Park and
its many treasures will offer fine hiking,
birding and bike trails.
